These items have been at the centre of my HOME series (small drawings made at home during lockdown). The message 'Stay Home, Save Lives' prompted a body of work based on my daily observation of corners of my home, mainly my living room, in which much time was spent. The items include a glass coffee table with a green/turquoise and gold ceramic piece I had made a long while back; a green glass vase; a turquoise glass basket with fruit; a navy-blue and white tea set on a silver tray; a book on Henri Matisse; part of a turquoise sofa set; and a wooden floor laid with Persian carpets, all of which appear in my drawings. As lockdown has eased and I am double vaccinated, I resumed work at my studio and am now on a mission to translate these small drawings into much larger works! Trying to capture the sensibilities of a small work on a large scale can be a huge challenge, but I am up for it and excited at the prospect.
