Lenny Henry is a legendary comedian, actor and writer. He started as a child actor, appearing on various comedy shows. He won a TV talent show in 1975 and appeared in The Fosters in 1975. In 1984, he started The Lenny Henry Show, a comedy sketch show that ran until 1988. Henry has been hugely influential in British Black comedy and television. He co-founded the charity Comic Relief and has been consistently outspoken about the lack of diversity in British television. He has a PhD from the University of London; his thesis was about the role of Black people in the media. Henry’s advocacy and work have made a profound impact behind and in front of the camera.
