David Yip is a trailblazing actor and playwright. He appeared on the BBC television series The Chinese Detective and was the first East Asian lead character on British television, portraying detective John Ho. The Chinese Detective aired in 1981, and Yip’s career has spanned both television and film since then. Yip is from Liverpool and has been heavily involved in presenting documentaries and talks about Chinese communities in Liverpool.
