Don Warrington is a well-known actor, best known for his portrayal of Philip Smith in the 1974 ITV sitcom Rising Damp. The writing of this character subverted the racist stereotypes that were typically portrayed on screen in the 1970s and was considered groundbreaking. More recently, in 2011, Warrington gained recognition for his portrayal of Selwyn Patterson in the BBC drama Death in Paradise.
