Farrukh Dhondy is a prominent writer, screenwriter, and activist. Dhondy was involved in the Indian Workers Association and the British Black Panthers in the 1970s. From 1984 to 1997, he became the commissioning editor for multicultural programmes at Channel 4. During this time, he commissioned groundbreaking, diverse television shows, such as The Bandung File and Desmond’s. From 1985 to 87, he wrote the Channel 4 comedy series, Tandoori Nights, which was Channel 4’s first Asian comedy series.
