Floella Benjamin is a prolific actress, presenter, singer, politician and author. Benjamin is best known for presenting children’s television, such as Playschool and Playaway. She first appeared on British television in 1974. Benjamin has had an illustrious career, having written a memoir, won a special lifetime achievement award, and has her own production company. She has been hugely influential in British television, children’s television, and is also the first actress to become a peer in the House of Lords.
