Trevor Phillips is an esteemed writer and broadcaster. Phillips started his television career on the London Weekend Television unit in 1992. He both produced and presented several news programmes and documentaries. He has also been active in British politics; when he was a student, he was the first Black president of the National Union of Students. Phillips was appointed head of the Commission for Racial Equality in 2003, and after it was abolished, he was the chairman of its successor, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, until 2012. Phillips has had a long and illustrious career.
